"Perched high above the lush valleys of the Lot river lies Le Bouyssou, a gite so lovely that I almost don't want to tell you about it.
"The hilltop breeze charms the surface of the pool, the verbenas sway, a swallowtail butterfly wafts through. Everyone relaxes. We have visited with the same friends both years and one of the daily highlights is to eat on the terrace after the kids have gone to bed, looking at the starry, starry night and talking . . ."

Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday. I don't know if we can say anything more to what has already been said or that we have said before! I do know that we will never forget La Bergerie or all of you. . . . taking into consideration the beautiful building, the interiors, the location, the climate, the things to do, the pretty villages, the huge private pool, all of the facilities especially for the children and the lovely helpful owners, I could not imagine there to be a better place in the whole of the world to take a holiday . . . I do have to make special mention of 'our' beloved Millie – we will all miss you so much! We hope to see you again one day soon!
We've had a lovely week in this truly beautiful house – definitely the best holiday home I've ever stayed in! We loved the interior decoration and the terrace outside is lovely, together with the pool, which was perfect for Emily to have a paddle and splash on the large steps in the corner! We hope to come back again in the years ahead!
Beautiful home from home, perfectly equipped. Gutted by the weather so the covers haven't been off the pool all week! If it had been possible, I'm certain Sarah and her family would have arranged otherwise, as they have been so very thoughtful and generous with time, eggs, toys etc! Austin did enjoy the chickens, guinea pigs and brand new indoor tent, so he definitely had fun. I very much hope that we will return . . .
Thank you, Sarah and family, for the opportunity to share your rural idyll for a week. We've enjoyed every minute of our stay at Le Bouyssou and will be sad to leave. La Bergerie and the gardens are of course amazing but we've been particularly touched by your thoughtfulness and generosity. From your suggestions of places to visit, to the festive Christmas tree and Advent calendar, to the fantastic range of toys for Thomas to play with . . . the list is endless. We hope to return . . .
I must say that what we found at La Bergerie far exceeded our expectations. The pictures on the website show a beautiful vacation spot, however, they just don’t do justice nor encompass the ambiance created both in and around the property. The renovated sheep barn (yes, you get to stay where sheep once resided) has been magically turned into a very beautiful vacation house and truly feels like a “home away from home”.
If you are fortunate enough to stay here, I highly recommend you try some of the suggestions on “things to do” left by the hosts. As some days were quite warm, it was a delight to cool down with a “dip” at the end of our day. There is so much to see and do in this area, that we will definitely return….and we hope to be fortunate enough to stay, once again, at La Bergerie. Our heart-felt thanks to Sarah and her family for their contribution to our wonderful holiday experience.
Absolutely superb in every way! Loved everything about the Villa, the French countryside and our hosts! Sarah has thought of every detail. It is simply superb. I would have quite happily just moved in. Sarah and her family were fabulous. They did everything they could to make our stay an enjoyable one. Nothing was too hard. As a foodie I especially loved all the local markets. From New Zealand our French was not that great but we had lots of fun making our selves understood. The locals were very patient with us. It had been on my bucket list to rent a Villa in France. I can say without reservation that it was the best holiday ever. A huge thanks to you all! Hopefully one day we will be back.
A special holiday, in a special place with special friends. Thank you so much for your kindness and hospitality. After a summer long sabbatical travelling the world what better end than to stay in our favourite place on the planet with good friends who now very much include the hosts. We have had a brilliant two weeks again – can't wait to return again with friends next year and share the magic.
We would like to say a HUGE thank you for making this a very special holiday in France. The house is beautiful and you have though of every last detail; we wanted to stay longer than our two weeks . . . . Millie was a God send. Thank you Millie for being such a good friend to Isabella and for patience with mischevious Theo! This will be a holiday to remember, in fact the most relaxing, enjoyable time that we have spent as a family ever . . . Thanks again and see you next year.
Had a fantastic week here- very relaxing, wonderful scenery and a fantastic pool! House is beautiful and is very well equipped with everything that you could need. This is a truly beautiful part of France. . . . and thank you to Millie for being a lovely friend for the week!
Wow! I don't know what I can say that hasn't already been said! What a fabulous place – the ultimate in 'Gite chic'! So comfortable, well, equipped, sparkling clean and every detail thought of. And such kind and generous hosts – thank you so much for the veg. and the cake YUM! Until next year we hope, a bientot!
